2. The short version
This page sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and uses no advertising or tracking services. Fonts, images and videos all come from farecho.net itself; the only thing loaded from elsewhere is Cloudflare's small script for counting visits (section 4). There are no forms and no user accounts.
3. Hosting and server logs
The page is delivered by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). So that the page reaches you and stays protected from attacks, Cloudflare processes technical data your browser sends with every request:
- IP address,
- date and time of the request,
- the file requested and the amount of data sent,
- browser, operating system and the page you came from (referrer), where sent.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is delivering the page securely and reliably. This data is not combined with other data and not used to recognise visitors. A data processing agreement with Cloudflare is in place (Art. 28 GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA; Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR), and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses apply as well. More: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
4. Visitor statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)
To see how many people visit the page and how they found it, it uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, provided by the same Cloudflare, Inc. as in section 3. Your browser loads a small script from static.cloudflareinsights.com, which reports to Cloudflare:
- the page visited and the page you came from (referrer),
- browser, operating system and type of device,
- the country, derived from the IP address,
- how long the page took to load.
According to Cloudflare, the script sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, does not use fingerprinting and does not follow you across sites, and it does not use the IP address to recognise you. The statistics show only totals (for example visits per day, countries, referring sites), never single visitors. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is knowing the page's reach. The data processing agreement and the transfer safeguards in section 3 apply here too. You can object at any time (section 7); blocking scripts from cloudflareinsights.com in your browser also stops it. More: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
5. Contact by email
If you write to contact@farecho.net, your address and message are processed to answer you (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for questions about a contract, otherwise (f)). The email is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a mailbox at Proton (Proton AG, Route de la Galaise 32, 1228 Plan-les-Ouates, Switzerland); the European Commission has found Switzerland's level of data protection adequate. The message is deleted once it has been dealt with, unless a legal retention period applies.
6. Link to X
The page links to FAR ECHO's profile on X. It is a plain link: no data goes to X unless you click it. After that, X's privacy policy applies.
7. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). You may object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (Art. 21). An email to the address above is enough.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).
8. Other
You are not obliged to provide personal data; without the technical data in section 3, however, the page cannot be shown. There is no automated decision-making or profiling.
